We are the team who will be working in F1. Our class will be called ‘Miss Rockett’s F1 Busy Bees’. The class teacher will be Miss Rockett, supported by Miss Pape and Miss Thickett. Here is a little bit of information about each of us for you to get to know us a little bit better
Hello, my name is Miss Rockett and I have been an Early Years teacher at Wath C of E for the last 5 years. I have a 5 year old step daughter and a 2 year old little boy. We love visiting the seaside, going on trips to the Yorkshire Wildlife Park, visiting Wentworth Garden Centre and visiting new and exciting places together. My favourite animals are lions and tigers. I love cats! Once you start at school you will soon notice that I love bees too! When my children are with their grandparents I love visiting the cinema to watch films and reading books. My favourite film is The Lion King and my favourite books are ‘Peter Pan’ and ‘The Tiger Who Came to Tea’. I think that reading is so important. We will read lots of stories together and I will recommend lots of my favourite stories to your grown-ups. My favourite drink is a cup of tea, with a chocolate biscuit to dunk into it.
Hello, my name is Miss Pape and I have worked in the Foundation Unit at Wath C of E for 2 years. I have two children who attend our school too; I have a little boy who is 7 and a little girl who is 10. At a weekend we enjoy going to our caravan which is in Bridlington. We enjoy going on the beach and walking our dogs. I have a few pets; I have two dogs and three horses. I enjoy spending time outdoors with my pets. I go on woodland walks with the dogs and grooming and taking care of my horses. I enjoy reading too. My favourite book is ‘We’re Going on a Bear Hunt’.
Hello, my name is Miss Thickett and I am currently studying for my Level 3 Early Years qualification. I have worked at Wath C of E for 2 years. My favourite things to do are going on long walks in the Peak District in my wellies and I love visiting different zoos and farms, looking at all the animals. I have two goldfish called Chip and Egg and I love buying them new things to swim in and out of. My favourite colour is purple, and I also love unicorns! I really enjoy spending time with my family and my two baby nieces, who are both 1 years old. I love finding out about different resources and activities that will help you with your learning, this also helps me with my learning too! I really enjoy eating different types of biscuits with a nice cup of tea.
What we will explore and learn about?
This year we are going to be asking lots of questions and doing lots of exciting learning and play to find the answers. We will explore the questions; ‘Who am I?’, ‘What are the woods and who lives there?’ and ‘Have you ever been to the seaside?’ Here is a little bit more information about what we will be doing to help s explore each question.
Who am I?
We will learn about what our names are, what we look like, who our families are and where we live. We will read books including The Three Little Pigs and Goldilocks and the Three Bears. We will also meet some familiar animals and learn about who they are, what they look like and where they live too. We will learn about animals which you may have as pets, who live on farms and who we may see if we visited a zoo. We will read lots of books including ‘FunnyBones The Pet Shop’, ‘Oh Dear!’ and ‘Dear Zoo!’. We will also learn all about Harvest Festival and autumn.
What are the woods are who lives there?
To explore this question we will read lots of books including ‘The Owl Who Was Afraid of the Dark’, ‘The Gruffalo’, ‘We’re Going on a Bear Hunt’ and ‘The Very Hungry Caterpillar’. We will explore what the woods are and what we might find living in the woods. We might even meet some animals who live in the woods and go on a Teddy Bears’ Picnic and have our very own Bear hunt! We will also learn all about Christmas, winter, spring and Easter.
Have you ever been to the seaside?
We will talk about our memories of trips and holidays to the seaside and the beach, talk about the things that we might see there and the things that we can do there. We will learn about all the different animals that live at the seaside and under the sea. We will read lots of stories including ‘Rainbow Fish’, ‘Tiddler’, ‘The Lighthouse Keeper’s Lunch’ and ‘Lucy and Tom at the seaside’. We will also learn about summer.
Alongside these questions we will also be thinking and learning about the people who help us and transport. Hopefully we will get the opportunity to meet some of the people who help us in our community. We are so excited to meet you all and share you first experiences of school with you. We are going to have so much fun!
