Welcome to year 5!
Throughout Year 5, we endeavour to build resilience, confidence and a desire for learning in all children. Through carefully chosen topics which we hope will engage the children, as well as exciting novels during guided reading, we want all children in Year 5 to reach their full potential. Through the vehicle of history, the children will explore the question ‘Is War Glorious?’ The quest to answer this philosophical question will be explored through the lenses of both the Roman Empire and the Vikings. As a research project, could you discover where these two great civilizations came from, what they believed, and why they are of any significance to us?
In the spring term, the children will turn their attention to the equally thought-provoking question ‘Is the Western World the same?’ In exploring this difficult question, the children will explore the human and physical geographies of Great Britain, Europe and the United States of America. To answer with clarity, the ‘land of the free’ will be studied to a depth that will expose the children to its culture, traditions and physical peculiarities. Our final topic, however, requires the children to gaze into space’s abyss in order to tackle one of humanity’s greatest existential questions: ‘Are We Alone in the Universe?’
Hi everyone! I have been teaching for 18 years now after graduating from Northampton University and for the last 6 years here at Wath C of E, I’ve taught Year 6. I’m really looking forward to being in Year 5 with you all and can’t wait to get to meet you all properly. As you probably know from my assemblies, I love a bit of singing and dancing; I also enjoy walking and bike riding with my family and more recently, I’ve started running. I love baking, reading and going on holiday with my friends and family – especially to places with theme parks as I love big rollercoasters! My favourite subjects in school are English, history and geography – I love learning about different countries, their cultures and traditions.
Hiya everyone! This will be my second year as a teaching assistant at Wath CofE & I’m so excited to be moving up to Y5W with you lovely lot! You all made me feel so welcome when I first joined in November 2020 & I’m looking forward to our Year 5 journey together!
I am a very creative person & spend the majority of my time outside of school creating balloon garlands & helium creations which leaves no surprises in saying that creative lessons are my favourite! I also coach dance classes & perform a wide variety of circus skills such as fire breathing, stilt walking & dancing up & down the country! I have even performed at Her Majesty’s Theatre in London & met a few famous faces!
I can’t wait to see you all again in September! Till then, stay safe & make lots of lovely memories! X
