During year 3 we will explore all things Stone Age! We will become historians, archaeologists and even… cavemen by exploring the interesting methods of how prehistoric people survived the savage Stone Age. We will travel further through history and discover how they developed into the Bronze and Iron Age looking at their clothes, houses and food. Later on in the year we will be explorers travelling the globe comparing how similar and different the UK is to both Europe and South America.
Spring term will bring our first whole class guided reading where we will get lost in a book together. A story about a mysterious, magical hotel and some very strange trolls who are up to no good… Towards the end of year 3 we will be channelling our inner wizard and explore all there is to know about magic! Investigating famous magicians will allow us to create our own tricks and riddles that will make everyone GASP! Throughout the year we will get the chance to work alongside the church and listen to stories and lessons about the Christian faith and how we can become the best and most kind people we can be.
At the end of every day after working hard and having lots of fun, we will read our class novel together. Books that will make our imaginations run wild…stories about a giant man made of iron and a boy with a secret pet dragon.
Year 3 will be a wonderful year full of fun and we cannot wait to be with you all.
Hello everyone, I’m Mrs. Thickett and I am very excited that this will be my second year teaching at Wath C of E. I have been a teacher for nearly 13 years and, in that time, I have been lucky to teach children all around the world, from Barnsley, to Vietnam, to the South of France! I love to travel with my husband and two young boys, to eat exciting new foods and to experience all the wonderful sights and cultures our planet has to offer. As well as travelling, I just love to learn about something new! My favourite subjects are science, music (even though I’m not the world’s most tuneful singer) and reading; it has been known that I have packed more books than clothes in my suitcase when I go on holiday! I’m also quite a sporty person; I play netball for a team but I also enjoy most team sports particularly rounders and football. My favourite food is cheese and I’m sure my new class will hear lots about cheese this year as it seems to creep its way into lots of my teaching examples! I love to have fun with learning, to be a little bit wacky and to be the absolute best that we can be. I’m sure this year is going to be amazing, and I can’t wait to meet you all.
Hi there, I’m Miss Chipchase and here is a little bit about me! When I am not in school I love to go for long walks with my lovely dog. He is a very excitable Irish Setter called Hugo! Mine and Hugo’s favourite place to go on a sunny day is Woolacombe Beach in Devon.
When I am home I like to be in the garden relaxing and reading a good book! If the weather is not so good then I like to watch programmes about animals – my favourite programme is The Yorkshire Vet!
I am still fairly new as I only joined last year but I have been made to feel welcome and even though it has been a strange year I have enjoyed working with the children at Wath C of E. Although I have enjoyed my time in Y6, I am excited to moving into Y3 and working in lower Key stage 2. In my spare time I enjoy spending days out and evenings in with my children watching TV.
